2017 Gaspard
ACCLAIM

THE STORY
Legend has it that in 1224 a Knight named Gaspard, wounded and weary from the battles of the Albigensian Crusade, was given permission by the Queen of France to recover atop a granite peak in the storied Hermitage. Through with bloodshed, Gaspard became a hermit but was soon joined by others seeking similar refuge. Together, they began to tend the area’s mythical vines.
VINTAGE NOTES
Red Mountain produces wines of intensity in flavor and texture. Gaspard strays from our Mahana and Concrete Mama Rocks District offerings, dueto completely different terroir. Plush and pleasant in its youth, this wine has round tannins and ripe blue and black fruit flavors that are balanced out by a backbone of acidity, making Gaspard a beautiful wine for aging.
Aromas of dark blue fruits like marionberries lead black fruit flavors, dried cherry and herbs de Provence. This wine has a nice acidity to balance the darker fruit flavors.
Pairs well with smoked meats, blue cheese and spicy sausage.
