“2017 The Walls ‘Cheys’ Syrah- Sourced from the esteemed ‘French Creek Vineyard’ in the Yakima Valley, the ‘Cheys’ shows nice smoky tones alongside a deep core of blackberry and black cherry on the nose. The palate delivers bright acidity with a layer of toasty oak that envelops the core of dark fruits with lighter sagebrush and tar undertones. Drink 2020-2028- 91” – Washington Wine Blog
2017 The Walls “Cheys” Syrah, Yakima Valley, French Creek Vineyard Cheys are walls in the North Rhone vineyards to retain soil on the granite slopes. This is an intense Syrah. It boasts an opaque purplish color and an intoxicating nose of blackberry, mountain blueberry, cherry, black currant, black roses, dark tobacco, lavender and oriental incense. The flavors mirror the aromatics with lavish yet firm dark fruits that are intermixed with black licorice, dark cacao, French roast and alluvial minerals. The concentration continues on the back with macerated berries, roasted nuts, mocha, crème de cassis, blueberry preserves and charcoal, followed by a lengthy, firm but ripe tannin finish. Shows varietal purity throughout. 19+/20 points. – Rand Sealey, Review of Washington Wines.
