GSM Blend | Red Mountain | Red Heaven Vineyard

Text book Rhone blend, text book Red Mountain. Red Heaven vineyard delivers once again. Ripe red and black fruit, black pepper and dried herbs, this elegant wine works wonders equally with grilled meats and long, slow cooked winter stews. It’s a wine for all seasons, blended beautifully by Consulting Winemaker, Todd Alexander.

92 POINTS, WASHINGTON WINE BLOG
"The 2018 The Walls ‘The Ramparts’ Red Wine is a great new vintage by this Walla Walla outpost. Flinty and smoky tones mingle with dried herbs and the core of dark fruits on the nose. The palate shows good freshness and balance with layers of cassis, blackberry cordial, ripe red cherry, dried sage and suggestions of coffee grounds. The complexity is really nice, as the 2018 ‘The Ramparts’ will cellar well over the next eight to ten years. Drink 2020-2028- 92 points."
19/20 POINTS, RAND SEALEY
Sourced from the Red Heaven Vineyard, this is a striking blend of 47% Mourvèdre, 22% Syrah, 18% Grenache and 13% Counoise. It shows intoxicating aromas of blackberries, blueberries, black currants and blood oranges, with scents of crushed roses, bayberry, sweet tobacco, garrigue (lavender and Provençal herbs), anise and spiced incense. On the palate, the wine is deliciously supple yet chewy, endowed with licorice root, cocoa powder, French roast coffee and Red Mountain calcareous earth. The wine gains intensity on the back with pressed berries, roasted nuts, crème de cassis, dried orange peel, graphite and touches of glove leather and coffee grounds, followed by a lingering ripe, spiced (nutmeg, coriander) sweet-dry tannin finish.
